Hi! I’m Becci, a mother, trainee teacher, aspiring photographer and wannabe blogger. I met my partner, Mark, 4 years ago and together we have a two year old daughter, Mia. We’re all pretty crazy but thats the way I like it. Together, we love to listen to music (Mia leads our dance parties) and go on lots of outdoor adventures!
I grew up in the south of England before moving to America to work for Disney World and then started my teaching career working as a Preschool Teacher. I left the preschool because Mark got a brand new sparkly job in California and we’ve moved from east coast to west coast! I’m currently training to be a Primary School Teacher and working on my Masters in Education.
My goal is to raise a happy healthy child. I believe you should raise your baby how your gut says you should. A mother’s instinct is always right. Let’s break free of the mom shaming! It’s hard enough to be a mother without everyone judging you for your choices.
The natural state of motherhood is unselfishness. When you become a mother, you are no longer the center of your own universe. You relinquish that position to your children. – Jessica Lange
I started Proper Livin both to keep in touch with friends and family overseas as well as give advice to both young mothers and mothers living far away from their families. You can also read about my attempts at entertaining my crazy daughter as a stay at home mom and satisfying my need for creativity. It has become both my online diaries and creative outlet and a way to document life so the future me can read back on all the fun we’ve had!
This is our adventures as a British – American Family and I’m so happy you could share it with us!
